Reducing Your Impact on the Trail

Reducing Your Impact on the Trail

April 29, 2021

In this episode, we close out Earth Month (April) with a chat about protecting the environment and Leave No Trace. We explain each LNT principle, give our own interpretation, and share our tips for reducing our impact on the environment when on the trail.

There are 7 Leave No Trace principles: Plan Ahead & Prepare, Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces, Dispose of Waste Properly, Leave What You Find, Minimize Campfire Impacts, Respect Wildlife, and Be Considerate of Other Visitors.

Here are three takeaways from this episode:

1) Go over the LNT principles, but try to understand what they mean for you.

2) Use your best judgment. Pick and choose your battles.

3) Sh*t happens. Don’t beat yourself up for one violation. Be mindful, learn from your mistakes, and try to do better next time.

Adventuring with Your S.O.

Adventuring with Your S.O.

April 8, 2021

In this episode, we talk about the joys, struggles, and logistics of outdoor adventuring with your significant other or partner. We also share how we split responsibilities with our partners, and tips for making joint decisions about new gear.

Here are three tips from this episode:

1) Whether it’s your S.O., friend or mom, whenever you hit a trail junction and someone’s behind you, you stop because that is how people get lost.

2)Talking through struggles is a great thing you can do and need to practice frequently.

3) Figure out how you complement each other, and learn to give each other grace when things don't go as planned.
